About Corporate

Corporate Banking supports clients in the UK and around the world. We provide corporate banking services to medium enterprises, large UK and global corporations, and financial institutions. We have the people and capabilities to help our clients achieve their ambitions in the right way.

Overall purpose of role

  • Member of the International Corporate Banking Team acting as primary support person for the Global Relationship Managers (GRDs) and the Country Relationship Managers (CRDs) located in Germany as well as in any other country where IC has a physical presence.
  • Proactively identify the needs of clients and work with business partners to provide and execute solutions (cross selling) as necessary
  • Support the Relationship Directors in identifying and pitching for new conquest business
  • Being the first point of back-up for Relationship Directors
  • Support GRDs and CRDs in all areas of management & development of the portfolio
  • Support GRDs and CRDs in all tasks related to manage risk (KYC, Onboarding, Operational risks, contractual risks, Credit Risk)

All above should be achieved within the context of the overall International Corporate Bank strategy and organisational values.

Key Accountabilities

Team working:

  • Attend team meetings and contribute fully, including suggestions for ways of improving customer sales and service in order to shorten implementation and accelerate revenues generation
  • Embed best practice both nationally and internationally: relationship, risk & servicing
  • Prepare quality business case applications for renewals and non-complex requests
  • Complete associated post sanction fulfilment templates
  • Refer list management, proactively manages customer excesses and chases for management information
  • Ensure all covenant breaches are reported in a timely way
  • Identify, research and cold call new target names for the Corporate Banking team. Prepare and attend meetings and events with the Relationship Director, therefore assist in generating new opportunities
  • Prepares pitch books for new business meetings, engaging all product specialists

Business Management:

  • Play a key role in ensuring all customer information is accurate and kept up to date e.g. sales leads and pipeline information
  • Ensure that new clients and products are set up on relevant systems
  • Ensure customer complaints are handled effectively and within Barclays policy and complaint handling targets
  • Ensure compliance with mandatory Risk policies and procedures relating to governance, regulatory compliance (including Financial Crime), operational and legal risk
  • Close cooperation and alignment with FinCrime in particular monitoring and managing suspicious transaction and if need be escalating further

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

  • Regular mapping of customers and spotting of new business opportunities that fit customer segmentation, passing on any leads to RDs as appropriate
  • Work closely with KYC team to obtain all relevant KYC details & documentation (onboarding as well as refreshes)
  • Build relationship within network across the entire bank including banking ensuring client's global strategy is followed across network

  • Establish and actively manage own personal development plan and seeks to improve in areas of development through undertaking the necessary training, skills development and coaching (Sales, Service and Managing Risk)

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

Competencies/ Expertise:

  • Branch based Corporate Bank IC products and services e.g. Trade & Working Capital, Cash Management and Debt Finance
  • Group products and services used by Corporate Bank IC clients
  • A working knowledge of the credit application process and credit risk policy and procedures
  • Proficient in use of internal computer systems including intranet, Email, Portals and any other platform applications and in data analysis
  • The Bank's service standards (including Service Initiative, National Complaints Initiative, Code of Business)
  • Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank and Clients (including Data Protection Act/GDPR, Companies Act, Insolvency Act, Financial Services Act and confidentiality regulations)
  • Proven stakeholder management expertise - confident and calm and able to guide the business to the right activity
  • External business awareness
  • Fluent English and German both written and oral

Technical Skills/ Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
