Job description

My client has a fantastic opportunity for a FINANCIAL CRIME SENIOR ASSOCIATE to help to mitigate the risk that the business is used to facilitate financial crime.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the assurance and oversight of financial crime systems and controls against the money laundering regulations and relevant financial crime legislation, providing assurance and advice to the business on matters including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF).

The role responsibilities:

  • Gather information, updates and requirements from project stakeholders and producing informative and useful reports, documents or plans
  • Perform analysis and documenting these into action plans to align Financial Crime Risk engagement with project plans
  • Provide 'SME' guidance to the business on financial crime risks, including Money Laundering, Bribery and Corruption and Suspicious Activity Reporting related issues
  • Clearly document results of assurance reviews, making policy and procedure recommendations to close identified gaps in financial crime systems and controls
  • Write appropriate level reports of the monitoring and assurance activity undertaken, with escalation of identified issues, agreeing timeframes to resolve and appropriate tracking of outstanding outputs to conclusion
  • Support the team to deliver the results of the assurance and monitoring reviews
  • Contribute to regulatory thematic reviews and support the business to understand and adhere to the Financial Crime Risk framework including financial crime policies and standards
  • Support the team to review and update financial crime policies and policy standards and appropriately communicate with the business
  • Assist with the review and updating of any bespoke financial crime training, and where applicable, support the delivery of the training to the business
  • Remain up to date with the changing regulatory landscape, including the money laundering regulations and financial crime legislation, emerging financial crime risks and typologies in relation to anti-money laundering and financial crime
  • Maintain knowledge of products, lending criteria and business processes, to aid reviews
  • Work with Financial Crime Operations team to review their Financial Crime procedures
  • Contribute to team meetings, sharing findings from reviews and monitoring activity

The successful candidate:

  • Excellent organisational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
  • Understanding of the Retail Banking sector; able to demonstrate business awareness
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to develop and maintain internal and external business relationships to exchange routine and non-routine information clearly and concisely
  • Desire and ability to develop financial crime technical knowledge on an ongoing basis and effectively impart learning with team members
