Job Description: Technology and Resilience Risk Specialist

Position Overview: We are excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Technology and Resilience Risk Associate to join our esteemed Risk and Compliance team. This permanent position reports to the Technology and Resilience Oversight Manager and can be based in either Edinburgh or London.

About the Department: The Operational Risk Oversight (Central Functions) Team is an integral part of the wider Enterprise Risk department within the Risk & Compliance division. Enterprise Risk encompasses multiple teams, overseeing areas such as Internal Capital Adequacy and Risk Assessment, risk analytics, conduct, data privacy, compliance, and business partnering for abrdn's central functions.

About the Role:

  • Oversee and provide strategic guidance to ensure the effective integration of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework for Technology and Cyber domains.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with business partners, delivering valuable oversight, education, and support for operational risk framework utilization, processes, and compliance matters.
  • Assist in addressing technology and cyber issues by guiding and tracking business-initiated mitigation measures.
  • Provide operational support, contributing to specialized oversight reports and producing relevant management information.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to establish a robust control environment, offering guidance, support, and constructive challenges.
  • Contribute to the broader activities of the Risk & Compliance function as needed.

Candidate Requirements

  • Profound knowledge of technology, resilience, and/or cyber security.
  • Exceptional partner management and interpersonal skills for fostering trust, influence, and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate curiosity and analytical thinking to strengthen risk management and provide insightful opinions.
  • Practical familiarity with operational risk management components such as risk identification, assessment, event management, and scenario development.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations in the field.
  • Personal resilience and confidence to uphold accountability and challenge.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Understanding of abrdn's strategic goals preferred.
