Broadgate are working with a leading Irish practice who are seeking a Senior Associate to join their Corporate M&A team with a particular focus on an energy and renewable client base. Great opportunity for an experienced PQE to join a market leading team.

The Corporate Team

The corporate team is a transnational based team which advises on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and other corporate structures, and investment type transactions across many industries and sectors including financial services, pharmaceuticals, technology and energy.

The firm are currently seeking to recruit a senior associate level lawyer to our corporate team, with a focus on energy related transactions. The Corporate team is well resourced with associate lawyers and supervising partners, who are focused on developing the team and providing good career progression opportunities for its lawyers.

The Energy Team

The teams lawyers who work on energy related corporate transactions work alongside our broader energy team. It is a market leader in the provision of legal services to the Irish energy sector, in particular renewables. It has acted on the acquisition, development and project finance of electricity generation assets with cumulative generation capacity in excess of 2.5GW. It has unrivalled expertise in the Irish renewable energy market, having acted on wind (both onshore and offshore), solar, battery storage and biomass projects with a combined financing value in the billions.

The Role

The position that we are recruiting for will focus on general M&A and renewable transactions and transactions in the broader energy sector. Our current energy client base is made up of a range of clients, including developers of renewable assets, energy utilities, energy focused investment funds, semi-state bodies and other investors, both domestic and international.


The successful candidate will be expected to combine corporate / M&A transnational skills with a working knowledge of energy/renewable sector, or interest on moving into this sector. In the short to medium term, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a working knowledge of the issues commonly encountered in energy transactions and of the broader regulatory and commercial landscape relevant to the sector.

Requirements

  • 4+ years PQE;

  • Experience within a corporate law firm working on corporate transactions that are relevant to the proposed role; and

  • An interest or demonstrable experience in energy transactions .
