Job Title: Risk & Control Manager - Banking

The client are dedicated to providing excellent consumer financial services while maintaining a robust risk management framework. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Risk & Control Manager to join our team and support the continued development of our Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks.

Main Purpose of the Job: The Risk & Control Manager will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Head of Risk to develop and enhance The Banks' Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks. The role involves collaboration with colleagues across the firm to manage an effective control environment, ensure compliance with risk standards and regulations, and support business resiliency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual review and update of the Risk Management and Risk Appetite Frameworks, ensuring they are proportionate, effective, and aligned with industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the annual Risk Control and Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, providing a comprehensive report to the Executive Committee (Exco) and Board.
  • Support and challenge risk owners in the 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) during the RCSA, ensuring proper identification, assessment, and response to risks.
  • Develop and analyse key risk and performance indicators, providing insights and impacts to the business.
  • Act as the point of contact within the 2nd Line of Defence (2LOD) for incident management and lessons learned activities.
  • Deliver risk management information (MI) reports to the Executive Committee, assessing business risks and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Review and enhance governance arrangements to ensure a clear organizational structure with effective risk management practices.
  • Provide risk training to 1LOD teams, fostering a risk-aware culture within the organization.
  • Drive the embedding of risk culture, skills, and knowledge across the business, measuring and evidencing the effectiveness of these efforts.
  • Ensure the delivery of any delegated responsibilities as detailed within the Reasonable Steps Framework.

Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of current risk management techniques and standards.
  • Experience with risk governance and managing governance body commitments.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative solutions to support business and risk functions.
  • Familiarity with risk standards, policies, and regulations in a consumer financial services business.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across the firm.
