To commemorate Pride Month, Broadgate’s Josh Duggancaught up with the incredible Matt Cameron, Founder of LGBT Great. Read below Matt's experience of being in the LGBTQIA+ community, what Pride means to him, and what he envisions for the future.

​Hello and welcome! My journey into the realm of workplace empowerment began with a personal commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels valued and respected. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating professional environments that lacked visibility and recognition of LGBTQ+ identities - it felt dark and depressing. This sparked my determination for building a diversity business. My biggest career achievement has been founding and growing LGBT Great into a leading voice for LGBTQ+ inclusion within the financial services and business community. Personally, I am incredibly proud of the impact our initiatives have had on people and organisations alike. Currently, I serve as the CEO of LGBT Great, where I oversee strategic direction, partnerships, and the development of programs that empower thousands of people around the world.  

Pride, to me, is more than a celebration; it is a powerful reminder of our community's resilience and progress. It signifies a time to honour the struggles and achievements of those who came before us, while also advocating for a more inclusive and equitable future. Pride embodies the spirit of solidarity, love, and acceptance. It is an opportunity to amplify under-represented voices and create visibility for those who face barriers. For me, Pride is both a celebration of identity and a call to action to continue working towards a world where everyone can live confidentially, authentically and without fear of discrimination.

Looking ahead, my vision for the future is to expand the reach and impact of LGBT Great, transforming it into a global leader in LGBTQ+ diversity and inclusion. We aim to develop innovative programs and resources that not only support LGBTQ+ professionals but also educate and empower allies within the business world. I envision a world where every organisation recognises the value of diversity, and where LGBTQ+ people can thrive personally and professionally. By fostering partnerships, advocating for policy changes, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, I am committed to making this vision a reality and ensuring that LGBT Great remains at the forefront of this crucial movement.
